I’m a UX & web designer at Liquid, and the co-founder of Trading Paints, the custom paint scheme community for sim racers. In my spare time, I’m on iRacing, playing dodgeball, or writing.

Race King 300
In 2011, event sponsors Trading Paints and Derek Speare Designs presented a unique challenge in that they needed to promote a one-off event using racing simulation software from iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations.
The website features a video introduction, a Twitter feed and account, race information, a countdown timer, signup form, sponsorship inquiry form, and timing and scoring that interacts with the iRacing service.
The event’s tagline — A 300-Mile Race with the Most Challenging Qualifying Format in iRacing — rang true, as over 500 drivers competed in a field that was narrowed to just 42 in the end. The event was a resounding success — easily the most-attended and publicized non-official iRacing event — mostly due to the strong user-friendliness on the event’s website.
Dreamed up, designed and programmed from the ground up with Shawn Brant from humble beginnings in 2009.
Over time, Trading Paints has housed hundreds of thousands of iRacing drivers’ custom car designs. With the addition of the Showroom in 2014, racers can design and submit their own designs to a public gallery to create their own portfolios and optionally let other drivers race their designs on the virtual track.
Trading Paints is also the home of Paint Builder, an interactive web application designed to allow any Trading Paints user to design cars from their browser without any plugins or additional software. For a small annual fee, drivers can subscribe to the Trading Paints Pro membership program to unlock Paint Builder, along with plenty of additional painting features to further enhance their iRacing experience.
The service is used by over 40,000 verified, active iRacing subscribers on six continents (still waiting on that first Antarctican user), including many professional racers.
